Client: New Archery ProductsStory: Sertus has successfully helped this large sporting goods wholesaler develop and manufacture new and innovative archery products and accessories that have been sold at big box, on-line and other retailers throughout North America. Sertus and its in-house engineers was instrumental in working with NAP’s US based engineers and designers to develop bill of materials, open molds, create prototypes, oversee production and manage quality control.

Client: CV DirectoStory: CV Directo, a leading Mexican infomercial marketing company, approached Sertus in 2007 to seek assistance in developing a household electric tool kit for the DIY enthusiast. Sertus provided product design, engineering, and a supply chain strategy to protect the intellectual property of CV Directo. The kit, which was only a concept at the time we were engaged, is now one of the leading items that is sold via its infomercials in Mexico.

Client: CB InternationalStory: CBI came to Sertus in 2004 seeking assistance with its product displays. They had a diverse set of needs across their product lines and they sought help in designing a cost effective point of sale display solution. Sertus put forward a team of its best designers and sourcing specialists to come up with a creative solution that could address all of CBI’s needs without requiring an extensive line of display racks. Using a modular approach, Sertus delivered a creative product display that could be adapted for multiple products in a simple and cost effective manner.

Client: Fix it SticksStory: In 2014, Fix-it-Sticks hired Sertus to help migrate all of its production from the US to China and to help improve its packaging so that it could aggressively attack the US big box retail market. Sertus assembled a team to put forward a comprehensive Supply Chain Management strategy and identified the key suppliers for its line of products. Various production methods were examined and a blueprint was proposed that has helped dramatically reduce the cost of goods while making some significant improvements to spec and presentation.

Client: MD GolfStory: Sertus worked with MD Golf to develop, design and launch a line of branded golf equipment. Sertus helped identify suppliers of high quality golf components and led the development of new product, artwork design and branding, while managing IP protection strategies, production, quality control and logistics. MD Golf now counts on a successful business that sells significant volumes of NCAA, NHL and corporate branded golf products at retail and wholesale levels.

Client: Blue Ice

Story: Sertus worked with Blue Ice to develop a complete line of high-end carbon fiber hockey sticks for professional, recreational and youth hockey players. Sertus helped identify the optimal product selections and corresponding supply chain and worked with the client and suppliers to refine specs, develop artwork and oversee production.

Private Label Assistance


Client: Acero PlusStory: Acero Plus was a mid-sized steel and related construction products company when it approached Sertus in 2006 to help develop its lighting business. Sertus successfully led the development of a full line of bulbs that were introduced through Acero Plus’ existing sales channels.

Client: AutobrillanteStory: Sertus helped Autobrillante realize considerable cost savings by providing creative procurement solutions and expanding its portfolio of products. Sertus identified competitive suppliers, coordinated artwork, design, and oversaw the production and delivery process (including all QA and QC) for a number of different auto accessories that were sold under Autobrillante’s private label.

Client: Casa & ConstrucaoStory: Sertus worked with CeC to develop a private label line of hand tools and kits, growing from an initial 15 skus to over 100 skus and becoming an important part of this retailer’s sales. For its first direct import from China, CeC turned to Sertus as its sole supplier. Sertus offered CeC a turn-key solution that involved hands-on management of  artwork design, product development, purchasing, production, quality control, consolidation, and delivery.

Client: Cemento ProgressoStory: Guatemala’s leading cement company came to Sertus seeking help in developing a line of construction tools that they could use for promotional purposes. Sertus carried out in-house research, market analysis and interviews with their distributors to help identify the tools that would generate the most goodwill from the end user. Once the selections were defined, Sertus managed the entire program from design and development through delivery of the finished products in Guatemala.

Client: Circle TradingStory: One of Puerto Rico’s most successful electrical accessories distributor, Circle Trading, turned to Sertus in 2005 for help in developing a full line of electrician’s tools that could compete directly with the leading brand in Puerto Rico (Klein Tools). Sertus performed a detailed analysis of the most profitable electrician’s tools and with these selections created the critical specs that would need to be met on each item so as to have a product line of equal or better quality than Klein Tools’ offering and at a 25% discount to selling price. The brand, design, visual identity and full supply chain strategy was developed, leaving Circle Trading with a leading and growing line of electrician’s tools in Puerto Rico.

Client: Walmart

Story: In 2006, Sertus won a competitive bid to manage all of the hand tools under the private label line of retail giant Distribucion y Servicio (DyS) in Chile. Sertus identified all of the individual selections based on the most widely used household hand tools and on the profitability of each item for the retailer, ending up with a full line of over 50 SKUs. DyS was later acquired by Walmart and Sertus has continued to win the line review for this program that it developed, given the success of the program and the excellent service Sertus provides.

The results have been significant cost savings and numerous line extensions. Client: Do It BestStory: Sertus began working with Do-it-Best in Panama, helping to develop and launch a full line of handtools under the Trademaster brand. Selections were defined based on Do-it-Best client preferences and other criteria. Currently, Sertus manages over 50 SKUs for this line, coordinating all all design, procurement, quality assurance and quality control and has helped the retailer grow its market share significantly since the line was launched.

Client: National DiamondStory: Sertus worked with National Diamond to develop a private label line of hand tools and kits. Sertus managed product selection, artwork design, purchasing, production, quality control, consolidation, and delivery, taking National Diamond from having no presence in hand tools to now successfully selling over 30 different skus.

Client: UrreaStory: In 2004 Sertus was hired to help manage competitive sourcing, quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) for an initial selection of SKUs under the SURTEK and URREA brands. Sertus helped reduce the Cost of Goods Sold by 25% for the items sourced, while making great improvements to spec. Because of excellent service and competitive procurement, Sertus grew its share of selections to over 500 SKUs and was the only supplier of China origin product for its professional brand, URREA.

Client: CochezStory: In 2007 Sertus began working with Cochez y cia and Novey to improve its hand tool private label (DURA+). Sertus’ design recommendations moved the line from under 30 SKUs to over 50 SKUs and added several extensions that helped position the line across all key DIY hand tool segments. The company is a leader in Panama of DIY hand tools and is working with Sertus to continue to increase its reach by intelligent additions to its line that serves a broader audience.

Supply Chain Management


Client: Ace International HardwareStory: Sertus began working with Ace International in 2004, providing supply chain management for their Ace brand of DIY tools. By concentrating more complicated items or those that required compliance with rigorous standards with Sertus, Ace was able to remove significant costs from their supply chain related to corrective quality control and the accompanying cost of shipment delays and brand dilution from stock outs and returns.

Client: MarwareStory: Marware (now Marblue) is the leading supplier for Amazon Kindle cases and hired Sertus in 2010 to run quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) in China for these products. Sertus developed all quality assurance spec sheets and designed comprehensive quality control procedures based on Amazon criteria and stringent delivery deadlines that had to be met. The program, since the Sertus QC architecture was implemented, benefited from a vast improvement in lead times and marked reduction in returns and allowances.

Client: Kinsey’s OutdoorsStory: Sertus has successfully helped this large sporting goods wholesaler move production from the United States to China. Client: MiyasatoStory: Sertus began working with Miyasato in 2013, helping them to reduce costs on a series of products that they were sourcing from China. Sertus found more competitive suppliers and implemented a comprehensive quality control program so as not to sacrifice quality in lieu of the more aggressive pricing. Today Sertus manages a number of programs for the Peruvian wholesaler.

Client: ModullStory: Modull came to Sertus in 2009 when it was looking to move its sourcing of kitchen cabinetry, hardware and solid surfaces to China. Sertus’ Trade Show Services arranged a comprehensive agenda for Modull, introducing the company to a wide array of pre-qualified suppliers and their products. Sertus helped implement a number of custom alterations and ultimately set up an end-to-end China supply chain (including procurement, quality assurance, quality control, warehousing and delivery) for the full range of Modull’s products.
